June 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty exciting month for gamers, with a solid lineup of new releases and beta tests. From highly anticipated survival crafting games to unique sci-fi adventures and action-packed co-op shooters, there's something for everyone to look forward to. Get ready to dive into some fresh experiences!
Dune Awakening: A Desert Survival Epic
Dune Awakening is an open-world survival crafting game with some MMO elements, set in the iconic Dune universe. You start with nothing and work your way up, gathering resources, crafting gear, and exploring a massive world. The game features two huge regions: Haga Basin and the Deep Desert. Haga Basin alone is said to be bigger than the entire map of Conan Exiles, offering about 100 hours of content. You can build bases almost anywhere, but watch out for those sandworms if you're out in the open dunes!
Beyond the survival crafting, there's a main story, side quests, and plenty of points of interest like enemy strongholds and unique caves. There are also underground desert testing stations that are like Fallout Shelters or Skyrim dungeons, full of enemies, lore, and boss fights. Player hubs offer towns with vendors, quest NPCs, and marketplaces. The world is dynamic, with events like crashing ships, police forces scanning at night, and massive sandstorms that force you indoors.
The endgame kicks off when you build your first ornithopter, letting you head to the Deep Desert. This area is much larger and is primarily for harvesting spice, the main resource for endgame crafting. It's a full-time PvP zone, supporting over a thousand players, leading to large-scale battles with ground and air vehicles. Even with some minor issues, this game is looking like a big deal for many players.
- Release Date: June 10th (PC, PlayStation, Xbox), early access on June 5th for those who pay more.
The Alters: A Unique Sci-Fi Survival Story
The Alters is an ambitious sci-fi survival game with a cool twist. You play as Jan Doulski, a lone survivor of a crash on a hostile planet. To survive, you have to create a crew from alternate versions of yourself, called "Alters." This game blends base building, exploration, and moral choices.
Exploration involves navigating a hostile planet with unique biomes and hidden secrets, while dealing with strange anomalies. You'll gather resources to craft items and expand your mobile base with modules like research labs. The Alters themselves are created using a quantum computer that simulates different past choices, bringing these alternate versions of Jan to life, each with their own skills and personalities. Your choices will shape your relationships with the Alters and impact the story, leading to different outcomes.
- Release Date: June 13th (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)
FBC Firebreak: Co-op Action in the Oldest House
FBC Firebreak is a co-op, mission-based first-person shooter from Remedy Entertainment, set after the events of Control. You play as part of a special unit called Firebreak, trapped in the Oldest House and fighting to stop enemies from escaping. It's a three-player co-op PvE game, similar to Left 4 Dead, where you complete objectives while fighting waves of enemies.
Levels have different objectives, like powering up generators or collecting fuel. There are various difficulty levels, and the game features unique classes with their own looks and functions. For example, one class can shoot water to put out fires, another can repair things, and one uses electricity. These classes can even work together, like hosing down enemies with water and then zapping them with electricity for a chain reaction.
Remedy has stated that this is not an ongoing live service game; it's a finite experience meant to be enjoyed and completed. It's a one-time purchase with no battle passes or daily check-ins.
- Release Date: June 17th (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach brings back Kojima's unique vision, continuing the story 11 months after the birth of the UCA. This open-world action-adventure game expands on the mechanics of the first, focusing on delivering cargo while overcoming human and otherworldly enemies. The game is set in a creatively reimagined Australia.
Key points from early previews suggest it's very much a sequel, expanding on every system. Combat has been improved, offering more options. There are cool, oversized bosses with interesting mechanics. While the graphics are better, the focus seems to be on performance optimizations and no loading screens. You don't need to have played the first game to enjoy this one.
- Release Date: June 26th (PlayStation 5)
Duel Corp: A Promising Souls-Inspired RPG
Duel Corp is a Souls-inspired action RPG that looks really interesting. It features challenging directional combat where you manually aim attacks and defenses. The class system is open, letting you mix and match weapons, armor, and abilities to create your own play style, like a stealthy rogue with a great axe who casts fireballs.
The world is said to have an "MMO feel" with varied, interconnected, and procedurally generated zones full of secrets. There are social hubs and multiplayer options, including two-player co-op quests and competitive PvP.
- Release Date: Expected Q2/Q3 2025 (PC)

What I'll Be Playing
June is going to be a busy month! I'm definitely going to spend a lot of time with Dune Awakening. I also plan to check out the beta for Chrono Odyssey, and if Duel Corp releases, I'll jump into that too. I'd also like to make time for The Alters, Vindictus, and FBC Firebreak. And if there's any time left, I'll try to check out some of the other games on this list.
